This is interesting. I’ve seen the book recommended quite a few times but haven’t read it as it always struck me as a bit of scaremongering

Me neither but my husband read it for his research into how much boarders should sleep. I know the premise of the book is sleep = good for humans. This thread comes across to me like a guy who doesn’t sleep well and doesn’t want to.

Only regarding errors in the first chapter. The one point I’m interested in, re sleep and learning, he addresses later in the article by saying “Yes I could refute this but I’m going to assume it’s as inaccurate as the first chapter”

hi! I'm the author of the essay. I wonder, if you agree that he makes a ton of errors/misrepresentations in the first 10 pages of the book, do you expect that the first chapter is uniquely bad in this respect and that his treatment of facts improves later, and if yes, why?

Hi! Thanks for responding to me! No, I think you’re likely to be right, but assuming that’s the case without actually checking the rest of the book doesn’t seem very scientific to me. I’d love to have the time to do a full debunk but my to read pile is already 8 books high.
