    At the start of my Ph.D. I only had a pop-sci level knowledge of chaotic dynamics. As the topic got more relevant to my thesis 's book and videos became key resources that taught me a great deal about chaotic systems. So this tweet by clearly made my day :)

    What's "free energy"? I don't mean energy you get for free. I mean the concept from physics: roughly, energy that you can use to do work. More precisely, free energy is energy that you can use to do work at constant temperature. But why the fine print? (1/n)

    Oldies but goldies: Jordan, Kinderlehrer, Otto, The Variational Formulation of the Fokker-Planck Equation. Showed that heat equation is Optimal Transport flow (i.e. flow of particles) minimizing Shannon entropy. Other entropies lead to non-linear PDEs.

    Dynamical systems are well-suited to understand the complexity of C. elegans behavior, characterized by its long term unpredictability, multi scale structure, and paradoxical coexistence of stereotypy & variability. And we believe this is just the start.
