Do you write CLIs in ? If you need to reach for a framework, I'd suggest checking out.. - Simple API surface - No global state - Nice structural foundation for long term maintenance. Check out the objectctl example. Great job

I can't, I just can't anymore. Desperate times lead to desperate measures. Goodbye vscode, hello

4/x ... used this for in-memory git stuff: and the GitHub client: Might make for an interesting meetup talk/blog post. Wonder how other teams do it.

3/x ... commits IN MEMORY, opens PR, waits for CI checks to complete, merges & removes branch. CLI DONE. Another CI "polls" this gitops repo which, upon detecting changes, deploys desired state. Finally, a slack notification reminds me the cluster has been updated.

2/x ... select a namespace using promptui optionally, build a dynamic list of container image tags. E.g., last 5, last 5 for a given ticket based on some naming convention, etc. then this CLI tool clones gitops repo IN MEMORY, updates desired state with new container version..

1/x A few weeks ago someone, i think , shared a link to this nifty tool .. so this got me thinking... instead of passing static flags to CLI, I build a dynamic list of supported k8s dev namespaces (from a gitops repo)..

“Readers following along get a very good understanding on where to even start building command-line tools and how to test them. There is a lot of substance and things build-up nicely as chapters progress.” Writing Go CLIs is loads fun, and this book does justice to that.

Some time ago I was fortunate to read an early draft and provide technical feedback. There is room in the library for such a resource. Keep an eye out for this book 👇.

I recently checked and found that over 75% of CNCF graduated + incubating projects are written in Go, including most of the ones on this image. Pretty cool :-)

Ticker #1. It was so much fun 🎉 meeting from all over in 2019, can't wait to do it again. Also was very surprised at the # of companies in the area, esp. Toronto, using Go. Some awesome folks building amazing things.

I like the idea of “infrastructure as code”. Just don’t like (unpopular opinion) the terraform bit. There must be a better way... P.s. Nothing against hashicorp, their stuff is awesome.
