if you think "why would you need long enough comments to make this worth it" you're not necessarily wrong that it's not a good sign. But reality !== ideal unfortunately. Often trying to salvage what I can and leave future devs with as much context as I can.

This would still be a wonderful vscode addon that you can opt into to convert a particular line. i.e. you type it all out as one long comment and use the context menu to say "make this fit" and it splits it up for you.

Sometimes I think "I have a great idea" then I find others have already had it too and there are so many caveats and footguns there's a reason it hasn't been adopted.

Also note that this example code is reduced to make it easier to grok, but it really does need a reference to the items AND needs to potentially update them.

I think that while this pattern works, IMO it's definitely not obvious when someone comes across it what/why it's done this way and that makes me a sad panda.

But I feel like I'm missing something. Hopefully I am?

It needs to be state, because I need the component to re-render when I change it. So it only be a ref. What I'm doing is using (abusing?) useState setter callbacks so conditionally either return a new value, or the same old value.

In React what's everyone's idiomatic way for having a stream depend on some state, but also potentially update that state, without it re-triggering the setup of the stream every time it changes that state? (Thread)

All good things must come to an end. Like the EARLY BIRD pricing for Live! London. So, catch it while you can, as it ends today, Friday, Jan 31st at midnight (GMT). Regular ticket pricing kicks in at 00:01 on Feb 1st. But good news - you can still use disc code RXJS20!

TensorFlow in the browser using WebAssembly+SIMD is seeing a 3x speed up. SIMD=Single Instruction Multiple Data, special low level instructions for data parallelism WebAssembly=a bytecode compilation target supported by all modern browsers
