    did you know you can check the balance of any bitcoin address with your fullnode directly without letting other people/servers/explorers know what you're doing. it takes a bit longer than hitting an explorer, but worth it imo.

    More on the 96 BTC ransom that ended up on Bitfinex. It'll be interesting to see if the upcoming court hearing will explore whether bitcoin has the same "currency" status as banknotes, and thus needn't be returned, an issue I explored here:

    The main reason to make a bitcoin payment is to avoid censorship. Whether that be to evade laws on buying drugs (see below), skirt exchange controls, avoid ransom payment seizure, or get around banking sanctions.
