I have a new paper out (OA: ), asking if fatherhood causally affects the wages of men. Focus on countries (UK & DE) that have changed how they approach fatherhood in the last decades, to an extent. The answer is.. 1/n

Importantly our experiment only speaks to the effect of signalling parental status etc. on a CV and only limited to two types of jobs and to hiring *intentions*. Hopefully useful, but a drop in the ocean of studies of gender discrimination and of the motherhood penalty 6/x

We discuss many threats to validity and how are findings square with statistical discrimination theories or status-based discrimination (not much here). Hope this could inform more studies, esp. field experiments, in the Netherlands and beyond 5/x

and are expected to be less committed to their job if hired. Differently from other contexts, this is not then reflected in differential hiring intentions or ratings in our Dutch sample and could speak to the specificity of the Dutch context in terms of work norms 4/x

Overall, we find little evidence of differential treatment especially in terms of hiring intentions - with the exception of a *small* preference for women without children for the teacher position. Women though, especially with children, are expected to work less hours 3/x

We ask respondents in the LISS panel to rate equally qualified candidates for either a software engineer or a primary-school teacher vacancy. We thus look at one male- and one female-dominated job, whereas most studies have examined jobs with more equal representation 2/x

I am anxious and excited to share that the has published my article reassessing the claim from a prominent paper that police brutality incidents cause 911 calls to plummet—and homicides to surge. I conclude that this remains an open question.

I thought this was a good response to Imbens paper. Very simple, succinct responses explaining better the value of DAGs. The point about shape restrictions and so forth comes up and FYI. I got to fourth point and tweeted this so maybe it goes off rails at 5.
