I hope you are making a joke. Offensive security should be contributing to make defense easier. If you are only in it to destroy and cause mayhem you are part of the problem.

Whilst I'm not anti-freedom for tools, I look at the metasploit plugin that lets me recast an executable that excludes certain sequences of bytes, and wonder at the defensive uses. I've not used it outside the training course.

Absolutely. Tools help awareness and understanding, they are not the problem. But irresponsible disclosure is. Arming skiddies with advanced tools, before blue teams have a chance to implement detections - that's the problem, not the tools themselves.

irresponsible disclosure (aka disclosing a 0day before telling anyone) is a whole other discussion. depends on who/what/why/how...
