"survey responses were dominatly male (91%)" How many employed / serious hobby programmers are actually male? Judging by the Meetup groups I've gone to in Denver & KC, & the biz I've walked around 91% seems about right. (Note, programmers & not marketers who use WP themes.)

I don’t have a number to give, but I doubt it’s 91%. Meetups are not a great indicator of demographics. Especially because when women developers do go to meetups many men assume they are recruiters or marketers. Which is a frustrating experience.

Hm, I've always seen the survey as a conversation starter. Not so much as a means to base decisions upon, unless it's to implore why something is or isn't trending. Great article.
