You do say movies, songs, paintings, games, etc, so it’s not totally out there or without precedent that the word MIGHT be right, even though it is actually wrong.

The word “Animations” is a plural noun. Just like Maths, Books, Cars, Jackets, Phones, Computers,

However, there are nouns without plurals and nouns with irregular plurals. Man - men, etc. So taking an s on to the end of it doesn’t necessarily make it correct.

Barely awake & lucid dreaming over this.... Tired thought pattern= Those that create music are musicians....Those that create animation are Animaticians (or do they make animatronics?) or Animators making Animatics? Antimatics are animated shots?...Animaniacs?

i used to feel that way until I worked in game dev. it's a common word for the short gameplay animations you do for each character. see i used the word.
