Have you tried something (like maybe @twistappteam) to replace @slackhq with another solution that pushes less towards interruptions and more towards asynchronous discussions? What did you think of it? How did you (and your colleagues) make the move? Any regrets?
Basecamp? Good for async and there's a chat inside each project (old campfire) For me Basecamp and twist are close but in two different ways, chat-like interface for twist and more thread/forum interface for basecamp.

I never tried basecamp. In my mind, it's more a suite of several tools than just one (like slack is only for chat and nothing else) ?

If you want to replace slack to have more async communication, a basecamp will allow you to have in the same app sync and async. But yes it's wider than slack.
