We really need to repeal the tax exemptions granted to churches. It's especially important that we do so in light of the politicization of religion.

That is an astonishing amount of money. Want to hear about how I used to get pulled aside when I was in college because it had been too long since I’d paid tithing though?

Yup. At one time I was a BYU student, but I was placed on ACADEMIC PROBATION because I had to work Sundays (to pay for school) so I was missing church and paying tithing.

that's seriously steep. You can't lump it all together. my family goes to two churches that lose money each year here, and barely stay alive. Their congregation keeps them from going under.
