My name has been misspelled so many times with wedding things that I’m excited to change it. My new one will be misspelled too but I can at least switch up HOW it’s misspelled.

The trans health equity act, which allows transgender Marylanders on Medicaid to access FFS, hair removal, and many more procedures under modern standards of care just passed the Maryland House! This is AMAZING news for low income trans Marylanders!

After some tension between House & Senate, West Virginia became the 2nd state to strike down a full ban on gender affirming care in the nation. We testified, we organized, we protected our community. While this bill is still harmful, the lives of trans WVians were saved tonight🏳️‍⚧️

It's finally time! Trans girl scout cookies! Trans kids are under attack nationwide. The Girl Scouts has accepted trans girls and non-binary kids for years now. Let's make the lives of some trans scouts a little bit better and get tasty cookies to boot. Thread of links here! 🧵

Ours is a revolution of love, empathy, and truth— you can’t ban those things. We will fight this battle the way our predecessors did: with grace, compassion, and throwing a brick if we have to.

Terrible news. The first drag ban has passed in Tennessee, and goes to the governors desk. It could easily ban pride. It bans public drag. It bans transgender people performing, who are just living their lives. It charges them with a felony! It is blatantly unconstitutional.

I am proud to be among so many New York Times contributors signing this open letter calling out their egregious coverage of trans issues. The bias has been glaring and it’s dangerous and if we don’t speak up, we are part of the problem. nytletter.com

Senator Fetterman is demonstrating so much courage by being transparent about his depression and choice to seek help. We need more leaders who can be open about their struggles like this.

After what he’s been through in the past year, there’s probably no one who wanted to talk about his own health less than John. I’m so proud of him for asking for help and getting the care he needs.

Trans youth are valuable members of our LGBT community and we need to do more to protect them because they’re the most vulnerable group to violence. I wish I could directly tell all of them how much they are loved.

Brianna Ghey wasn't the only trans teen killed recently. Just in the U.S., Ariyanna Mitchell, Katie Newhouse, and siblings Jeffrey Bright & Jasmine Cannady all lost their lives to violence. Every one of their names should be remembered in the fight to end trans dehumanization.

even if The Author had never joined Twitter and we were still unaware of her hateful views, the plot of the game is on its own UNBELIEVABLY antisemitic, like this thing is so offensive to so many marginalized groups how do some of y’all keep refusing to see that

I think a lot about the trans woman denied a gender marker change on her driver's license. She went outside and took her top off, was arrested by police for indecent exposure that only applies to women and then placed in a men's jail. It's the perfect encapsulation of society.

This letter comes to me from two trans students, courtesy of their teacher. It will be read on the floor tomorrow - their bravery is unmatched. Allies, this is why we need you at the Capitol tomorrow to speak out against HB 2007. Trans lives are on the line #wvpol

You don’t have to watch the video of #TyreNichols being beaten by police. You don’t have to subject yourself to that trauma. It should not require another video of a Black human being dehumanized for anyone to understand that police brutality is an urgent, devastating issue.

My heart breaks for Utah trans kids. The governor of Utah has signed a gender affirming care ban for trans youth into law. Utah becomes the first state of 2023 to ban gender affirming care and unless it is blocked in court, it would be the only state with such a ban in effect.

BREAKING NEWS: @GovCox has signed SB16, the transgender youth healthcare bill and HB215, the teacher salary/school choice into law. Here’s his statement on SB16. @fox13 #utpol #utleg

“Legislation that impacts our most vulnerable youth requires careful consideration and deliberation. While not a perfect bill, we are grateful for Sen. Kennedy’s more nuanced and thoughtful approach to this terribly divisive issue. More and more experts, states and countries around the world are pausing these permanent and life-altering treatments for new patients until more and better research can help determine the long-term consequences.

“We will continue to push the Legislature for additional resources to organizations that work to help this important Utah community. While we understand our words will be of little comfort to those who disagree with us, we sincerely hope that we can treat our transgender families with more love and respect as we work to better understand the science and consequences behind these procedures.”

I’m finally able to read the sequel to one of my favorite books, and less than 1/5th of the way in I just audibly gasped. Then I remembered the reason I loved the first one is how many times I gasped. Anyways read Legendborn and Bloodmarked by !!!
Shitty that these transphobic laws are spreading to our home area. Glad it won’t actively affect many trans youth except for stirring up hate, but as we’ve seen with the rest of the US I’m sure it’s only the beginning.

West Virginia appears to have opened up its first health care ban for trans minors. It would ban gender affirming surgery only, which is mostly never done to trans youth. Bottom surgery (genitals) is not done and extremely rarely, top surgery (breasts) can be indicated. twitter.com/ash_in_wv/stat…

The new American Girl book has pages on diverse bodies like disabled ones and trans ones. This kind of representation would have been wonderful when I was a kid. Trans kids exist. Disabled kids exist. The GOP is furious that kids can learn that.

. you have played a major role in elevating anti-LGBT+ hate rhetoric and anti-trans lies while spending your time in Congress blocking even the most common sense gun safety laws. You don’t get to “thoughts and prayers” your way out of this. Look inward and change.

And it begins... Texas has filed a bill that would make "consenting to gender affirming care" child abuse with prison sentences for parents. HB672 will mean a mass rounding up of trans kids if passed. It is the most horrifying piece of anti-trans legislation I've ever seen.
