Pretty fucked up that as a society we’ve completely normalized slicing up baby penises, right?

It’s completely unnecessary as a medical procedure 99% of the time. Imagine if we just sliced the labia from baby girls because it’s “cleaner” and “more aesthetically pleasing”. Or because the parent “wanted them to look like mommy”. It’s barbaric.

Uncircumcised men have a greater chance of infections and erectile dysfunction; it makes more sense to circumcise while it is less painful/traumatic verses being 65 years old and having to get your whole penis cut off & having a superpubic catheter the rest of your life.

You know as well as I do, proper hygiene reduces chances of infection to negligible. Most of the world doesn’t do it. It’s about bodily autonomy. I never had a choice, my penis was mutilated before I could speak. I think bodily autonomy outweighs the *slightly* increased risk.

Also, you say “what if we wanted to cut off a baby girls labia?” The only way that’d be considered is if there was a medical reason, there is none, unlike uncircumcised penis’s.

If you’re saying my comparison to female circumcision is wrong, your comparison to vaccines is totally off base. Vaccines are a medical necessity — for the good of the greater population — neonatal circumcision is not, especially in developed countries.

In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics states, “the procedure’s benefits justify access to this procedure for families who choose it” however, “health benefits are not great enough to recommend routine circumcision”.
