kegan stage 5 is self-unraveling. the stages are themselves a system. once you move past systematic thinking the entire edifice loses value except as a kind of shadow or echo of other possible divisions of the world.

Also, yes, on reflection this applies if the model has been adopted as a system of personal development, but if not, presumably it retains its value as a descriptor rather than a truth-giver… Why do you think it would it become a shadow or echo, rather than ‘one among many’?

"one among many" == shadow == echo. that's three different ways of saying the same thing. we can use echos to discern the shape of reality but we shouldn't conflate them with reality itself. just a pattern that shows us aspects of reality. that said, sonar is really useful.

Oh that’s interesting, I was thinking of shadow/echo in aprogramming sense, ie hierarchies/layers of superveniences and overlap.
