@garybasin This is my trusty backpack. I have had it for about 16 years. It is no longer waterproof since the lining got eaten by moths. But I love it and am loathe to part with it. I have not found one I like so much.pic.twitter.com/cAz0FDond4

What shoes are you guys typically wearing for day trips? Long and short. Short being ~1.5hrs, long being... 12-13hrs.
How about you, what have you found works best?
In the process of buying some new ones! I moved to a more 'minimalist' style, which did, take some time to adjust to. I haven't been on too off-path tracks recently, but if I do, I find _hiking_ specific shoes a bit _better_.
Nikes in the past, haven't lasted me too long (and that's just city/commuting -- maybe 9-10km per day). But, I've owned various pairs of minimal running styles. Atm looking at Merrell trail glove (minimal):http://www.merrellaustralia.com.au/trail-glove-4-black-0009673-000 … Merrell moab (hybrid?):http://www.merrellaustralia.com.au/moab-fst-noire-0036927-000 …
^ Both of those have been teamed up with Vibram. My last pair were the previous gen trail gloves. So I'm thinking trail glove right now OR Alternatively, I'm looking at New Balance Minimus Trail (also vibram- paired )https://www.newbalance.com/pd/minimus-10v1-trail/MT10-V1.html?dwvar_MT10-V1_color=Dark%20Grey_with_Yellow#color=Dark%20Grey_with_Yellow …
I find the minimal-style, once adapted, a lot more comfortable. _Apparently_ their 'better' for your feet --> physiology, too.
I got the Nikes for weight lifting, but they turned out to work well for easy walks too.
