Kwan Dai, Kwan Tai or Kuan Ti for Guandi (Emperor Guan); Kuan Kung for Guan Gong (Lord Guan), Kwan Yu, or Quan Yu for Guan Yu.
Yup. But that’s him, alright, as a side-kick to the main dude, who is def not Guan Yu.
i like how they translate it as Guan, Gwan, Quan, Kwan, and anything else they feel like
yes, I am wondering whether these are regional variations. This is the first temple purportedly to him that I have come by.
The character Guan is going to be the same, they are just useing different systems to transliterate it, pinyin, wade-giles and ???
I was thinking random regional spelling variation rather than character, but you may be right, it might be more systematic.
oh duh sorry, ‘character’ - I’m being slow.
