(Soliciting feedback rather than making an offer just yet but) would any of you be interested if I were to do some coaching/workshops about writing, with a specific focus on how to write more and in ways that are useful to you rather than some abstract notion of quality?

FWIW the splurge everything I'm thinking about approach has worked very well for me, and every time I fret about whether it's appropriate and suggest narrowing the field readers go "noooo, we love that stuff"
-
Def worth knowing, thx. And I have been more persuaded that it could work seeing your stuff, too. I like the variety.
-
It's not for everyone, and some people do like to separate out their blogs by theme, but I think I would advise most people who are inclined to blog to start with a "everything I'm thinking about" blog and then extract common themes if necessary.
-
But e.g. it can be useful to have separate professional and personal blogs.

I really like the random splurge approach actually... generally it has enough coherence for my taste anyway, just from writing style/characteristic way of thinking/recurring themes etc
-
Yeah. Though as a writer a downside of that coherence is that it can damage your self-image as a unique special snowflake when it turns out that what you believed to be your unique collection of weird interests is actually shared by a huge number of readers. (Source: Hi it me)

I'm only being somewhat facetious. It's not a huge blow to the ego, but I do regularly get surprised by this and have to recalibrate my self-image.
-
This is a often a surprise and a delight to me too. (“So, wait, you *also* like climbing glaciers, pet vultures and are allergic to metaphysics..?”)
-
In this case, not at all. :-) I'd be up for trialling vulture petting as a new hobby though.
-
-
Oh man, I would pet the hell out of that bird.

So fuzzy...
