Himalaya trips also would be expensive compared to many. Not sure how they compare to Kilimanjaro. One of the reasons I’ve not hiked there seriously yet. Needs lots of prep too.

yep, he was very open with what it cost... he was quite frugal too, and I was gobsmacked at the price?! training... he put it 6 months of weekends, hiking what he could here. can't acclimatise to 19,000ft hikes though!? :p

Acclimatization is a skill. The Nepali guides are super-tuned to getting the increments right for Western hikers. I’m meeting up with an experienced Himalayan hiker friend next week. Much of my info about it comes from him.
