the only cooking-related injuries i’ve had all involved underequipped kitchens, stubborn ambition and butter knives.https://twitter.com/eleanorkpenny/status/1029644920485765120 …

Completely severed my index knuckle tendon on a tuna can 5 years ago. Saw bone, left it, cleaned blood & made my own splint. 3 days later, pain too much — infected to point of near amputation, plastic surgery, 3 days in hospital & 12 weeks in a “professional splint. Kitchen wars!
-
Phew, that was close! I wasn’t sure at the time whether to go to hospital. Almost didn’t, but glad I did hearing this. Had to wear a boot splint on it for a while.

Omg. I’ve gone right off smoothies now
-
Sorry! I still love them, but I no longer attempt to make them with a food blender.

How did the foot end up in the blender?
-
It was a brand new blender, first or second use. Super sharp blade. I poured the smoothie out and the blade was unattached once loose of the stand
Blade bounced off kitchen top, I did an air-dance to avoid it, it landed on floor under foot just as I landed. Cld’ve bn worse. -
Ouch! Your story makes more sense than the image I initially had, trying to imagine how one might get a foot in a blender (whilst it still being attached)
