Yes, I'm pretty sure that all the Asian tourists at Harvard/Yale/Princeton thought that they were at Hogwarts. And when I told family in China about my acceptance to MIT, they thought I'd be hanging out with Bill Gates all day.

I believed in the myth the whole time while growing up: if I got into a top uni, it would be like some sort of magical paradise. So I was disappointed by reality when I arrived on campus, and experienced huge cognitive dissonance for years, which I channeled into lifting weights.
