In Buddhist sytems, concept formation is one of the senses, like smell, taste etc. It’s an interface. When I hear people being anti-intellectual it sounds so weird, like it would if they were being anti-touch or anti-hearing. Anti-intellectual Buddhists are the funniest.

Yes. Sadly a common thing with so-called "spiritual" people - including a number of Buddhists. Meeting Buddhists and being a professional scientist can lead to weirdly dismissive social attitudes. Particularly with very Mahayoga-oriented people.

That’s a shame.

I mean, my sangha, being a student of Lamas Bar-ché & Mé-sèl, is quite ok. However, I come across it when trying to get to know other Buddhists like here in Taiwan now.
-
How long will you be in Taiwan? Is it a temp or long-term contract?
-
This is a 2+2 year contract. Fairly long as far as postdocs go.

Congratulations!
