TIL Deer (more accurately, doe) tastes unexpectedly delicious Shotgun packs more of a kickback than last time I shot one (either me getting older or EU double-barrels having more boom per stick :)) Tits (the bird) are horrifying. Flying vicious fearless piranhas.

they are about the size of a small kid's fist, crawl trees up and down when not flying (did't know birds can do that), look kind of of cute bit are shrill, are drawn to blood something crazy, and absolutely go nuts if given semi-cooked animal fat.

I'm in Slovenia rn so I presume it's great tit. Kind of like more colorful perma-angry flesh eating sparrow

I have lived among great tits (as well as many others) all my life, I have fed them animal fats. I have never once felt the slightest bit threatened by one. *makes mental note to avoid the Balkans*

one attacked my hand and drew blood (I was feeding it, dammit) the other tried to rip earring out of my ear, and they are going absolutely bonkers because of all the blood and remains from the doe. These birds are bathing in blood. Hunting guide is laughing and says it is normal.

@_awbery_ “In 2009, great tits were reported killing, and eating the brains of roosting pipistrelle bats.” OK, this is officially creepypic.twitter.com/ER4k7TYkfo

These may go together… which is why horror fiction. I’ve enjoyed watching great tits in Britain, but had no idea they did any of these things!

Pesky things always went for the gold top. Eventually there were bird proof doorstep milk crates.
