    Important new guidance from and a reminder of the value of Data Safe Haven approaches to controlling risk at a data context as well as content level. All needed to protect participant confidentiality and maintain trust.

    There also seems to be confusion and uncertainty of abilities under GDPR to re-purpose existing records for research. See our paper explaining this. Uncertainty and risk aversion more of a barrier than GDPR and our new DPA 2018.

    Not only on the value and need for data linkage: but the need to overcome the risk of records being held in 'silos'. Many important benefits will only be found when bringing health and social records together for analysis as done and other studies

    Fascinating day spent with Dr Michelle Griever yesterday. GPS, psychiatrists, social workers in one team, one records system. Data analysis hampered by top-down coding requirements, coding inconsistency and integration across system suppliers - a familiar story!
