The largest aftershock can be many units of magnitude smaller than the mainshock to even bigger than the mainshock. It's a bell curve with the mean difference in magnitude of 1.2. An aftershock as big as the Turkey M7.5 happens ~10% of sequences.

Lots of information about the M7.8 in Turkey. The location of mainshock is near the intersection of the Dead Sea Transform fault and the East Anatolian fault. The focal mechanism could be either fault.

I must say, I now only take out my landfill can every 3 weeks. My #recycle bin and organics bins every week. Amazing how much I found was going to the landfill before started to use the magic Blue and Green bins. Who else has seen such changes at home?
