(1/6) Here is my work with , , and on an open source, cheap, and fast tetrode machine (). We've used it in the Wilson and Harnett labs for the past 2 years. It allows you to make probes quickly and reliably. Some features:

Next gen headstage next to an elevator control board that and I found in the electronics recycling bin. Which do you think has more components? In any case good find, those relays are nice and I might just hang this thing on my wall

I read a lot about formal verification methods () over break. As a first go, I applied SymbiYosys () to a "dead simple" clock divider and it discovered 3 bugs in ~20 lines of Verilog...the human brain is a hell of a drug

Great in that it is well written, informative and funny. Its good that people are starting to realize that death and immobilization kinda limit the interpretation of experimental results in the most interesting case: alive and moving!

I have started a blog on animal behaviour - yet another thing to do in a mass of free time that I usually have. And there is no better way to start than to make some optimistic predictions about the field!

For those who want a Stimjim but don't like soldering: we've added instructions on ordering fully-assembled boards from SeeedStudio! Thanks to for trying this out and documenting the order process! Total cost is ~$450/stimjim at quantity 2.

Sure, technologies like are cool, but I prefer a 50cm x 50cm PCB with the channel map encoded using 3x SODIMM-compatible PCBs for easy, on-the-fly electrode map configuration.

Thanks Vivado for removing the very confusing file->save menu option and instead copying a radom selection of my source files to project/project.scrs/sources_1/. It has great benefits both for git and my sanity.

First round of next generation headstage mass production is complete! 160 components smashed onto a 19mm diameter, 8-layer PCB requires some serious QC. MicroCT scans of each board ensure our assembly pipeline is on point. Look close and see if you can find the inductor 😀

Just finished up the next revision of the very touchable, rack-mountable, optical-table friendly, miniscope/neuropixel/tetrode/...-compatible next-generation breakout board and thought it turned out pretty 😍

Building our neurophys rig would have taken us years, was it not for . If you do ephys, take this survey to help make this amazing open source approach better.
