I believe that Arthur C Clarke was of the same opinion. Being polite to "AI" won't hurt and stops us treating each other as machines
I always say Thank You to Google after a voice search.
I assume that the AI takes note somewhere

I often tell Siri “thank you” after she answers my question and I’m sad that she doesn’t acknowledge that in any way

In the future it may be difficult to tell which interactions are non-human, so best to always practice politeness IMO. Of course, I refuse to use speech recognition, so I could be missing something.

I always feel unnaturally hurt and insulted when FaceID fails - something I never felt with TouchID. I guess my fingerprints are just less easily offended than my face...
