oh hey guess who still has root here…
Shell: /bin/ksh
I see you @__agwa
systemd strikes again! Looks like the local roots have taken care of it... at least until the next reboot

Did someone forget to systemctl enable? :P
-
No, every once in a while it actually does start on boot. This also happens with services besides postgresql.
-
I would try to debug it, but I find it easier to just install sysvinit. Incredibly, systemd manages to be less reliable at starting daemons than a pile of brittle, often-racy shell scripts.
-
why no s6 though
-
It's on my TODO list! The only reason I'm still using sysvinit is that it's practically zero effort on Debian.
-
Oh? I set up a Debian Sid installation on my G5 yesterday and I was just like. Ugh. systemd. Can I replace it with like whatever gentoo uses?
-
There's a Debian package for OpenRC, so... maybe? If you just want to get rid of systemd, this is how you install sysvinit: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14581820 … sysvinit is really easy because packages still ship init scripts
