Also, have an answer for what their art style is. Show you get the vibe of the work you'll be doing. And when possible allow for your portfolio to have something in it that shows you can get in their neighborhood.

Yes! Two of my past jobs were based 100% on the fact that I had stuff in my portfolio I made specifically for the studios I was applying/interviewing at. It's how i broke into the industry

As someone who has been an artist for years, but aside from painting. Ie impressionists, surrelism ect. How do you learn the names of certain styles? Beyond naming the company itself?

Most studios just have a natural house style that can sometimes differ from game to game. Usually researching the artists who worked on a specific title will give you a better sense of what a company is looking for and how a game arrived at a certain 'look'
