Hey art folks! I recently experienced a scary flare-up of carpal-tunnel symptoms- thankfully now the discomfort and pain is managed. I'm not an expert by any means, but I wanted to share a couple things that have been helpful in case it's useful to anyone else!

The big changes: with pain- taking rest seriously, planning for periodic ongoing rest, icing the wrist when resting. Consulting w a doctor about best practices. Longer term, I've been sleeping with a wrist brace, even when not in pain, so I don't sleep with it at a bad angle

Two ergonomic changes- I got a rubber holder for my apple pencil to widen the grip, which puts less strain on my fingers over the long haul- I went with Moko ($10) https://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Protective-Accessories-Compatible-Generation/dp/B07MVTNGSN … It's a small adjustment, and not perfect (some slippage) but it feels like its helping!pic.twitter.com/uG674ILgYZ

I splurged for a vertical mouse to replace my default apple mouse, along w/a padded mouse pad. These feel *much* better- the mouse keeps your wrist un-torqued/twisted I went with Logitech https://www.logitech.com/en-ca/product/mx-vertical-ergonomic-mouse … Anker is a solid cheaper option https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Wireless-Vertical-Ergonomic-Optical/dp/B00BIFNTMC/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=vertical+mouse&qid=1593116469&sr=8-3 …pic.twitter.com/M3NvjCxHbF

If you want to go all-out to avoid mouse-induced wrist strain, I highly recommend switching mouse control over to your left (non-dominant) hand. It just eliminates extraneous motion your drawing wrist doesn't need. I did + got a trackball & it cleared up a bunch of pain overnight
