Spicier, more direct take: Moby Francke unintentionally created the current visuals of stylized games by making TF2 look the way it did, and everybody's just doing hack jobs of making shit look like his work. (This is not a dig at Moby Francke, by the way. He's a baller.)

Almost like a bunch of artists never learned how to reference correctly and just reproduce self-referential crap that slowly collapses in on itself because audiences demand & then fatigue on a style . . . see: 00's manga boom/bust, "disney style", etc
