Sometimes if you restart the wacom service you can fix it without rebooting. You know how to do that?

Check your "power & sleep settings" -- odds are your USB device is going to sleep and failing to wake up. Go to the advanced config of power/sleep and turn that off so the USB devices stay awake. In fact, turn off sleep altogether.
