You’ll find (by reading all of the replies I’ve written) that I agree with you. That’s why the idea that surgery should be considered before anything else isn’t my argument. I’m arguing that it is a medical procedure and has multiple valid uses, unlike female circumcision.
No, that’s misconstruing my point. I’m arguing that circumcision is medically necessary in the same situations as tonsillectomies are. I don’t believe in preventing the infection in the first place, I believe in stopping the infections before they turn chronic. So no total bans.

None of us asked for a total ban. We just have a minor disagreement on what qualifies as a valid "medical reason". I don't believe in unconsented preventative amputation of normal healthy body parts fullstop. The "benefit" is a gamble at best and the damage can't be undone.
