I can cite many many sources. Am Fam Physician. 1998 After the first few months of life, UTIs occur far more frequently in girls than in boys, presumably because of the shorter length of the female urethra. Cleveland Clinic (image)pic.twitter.com/P0uyuZRLNW

WebMD - But kids can get urinary tract infections (UTIs), too. Up to 8% of girls and 2% of boys will get a UTI by age 5.

2%, those 2% can be given antibiotics, they don't need a part of their body cut off to maybe prevent an issue if they're the unlucky 1 in 50, where 49 of them will have been mutilated with no benefit, statistically.

Oh and if girls had such great protection, why is almost 1 in 10 by these numbers getting an infection?

And no, I don’t advise over-using antibiotics on chronic infections. Like tonsils or appendixes, if infection happens often parents should have the option to remove the problem.

No, I categorically reject this. Doctors and parents are tasked with getting the child to adulthood in one piece.

Wasting antiobiotics on chronic infections that could be sorted by operation contributes to antibiotic resistance. If worldwide antibiotic resistance gets any worse, the kid will be in one piece on his deathbed. And millions of regular people, too. It’s not a logical move.

The get mad at doctors wasting antibiotics on girls with UTIs and vaginal infections, which they get a rare 10X that of boys.

Their chronic infections can’t be solved by operation. Male infections can. That’s why the law is different. Not an equality issue.

Yes they can. Destroying the infected tissue by definition can end vaginal infections, and Indonesian doctors claim it reduces UTIs.

      Replying to @Gregory_Malchuk @ReyosB and

But that’s not the tissue that female circumcision removes. I’m sure if you removed the whole female urinary tract it would remove the infection. And reduce risk of UTIs. Because they’d be dead. That isn’t a real operation, you’re making up a procedure.

How about under the clitoral hood? Why don't we cut off their prepuce and expose the clitoris for the same reason we expose the glans in males? It'd keep things in there all nice and dried out and desensitized, which y'all seem to think is a good thing for some reason.

Not by a urinary tract infection. We’re using the same example in both boys and girls: a urinary tract infection. In boys, circumcision lowers the rate of further urinary tract infections. In girls, it doesn’t. Remember that boys get more complicated infections.pic.twitter.com/tx4odBYCYx
