Finally managed to track down mint condition Magnum Opus 'Apollo Remastered' in Scheltema bookstore in Amsterdam. What a book! It's a beautiful tome & Andy's work is exquisite. An essential purchase - I'll be dining on this for YEARS.

what shatner describes on having gone to the edge of space is exactly the emotion the space billionaires don’t want associated with their ego projects. it forces us to see that space colonization fantasies distract from what should be our priority: saving our beautiful planet.

"It was among the strongest feelings of grief I have ever encountered. The contrast between the vicious coldness of space and the warm nurturing of Earth below filled me with overwhelming sadness ... My trip to space was supposed to be a celebration ... it felt like a funeral."

"The spacecraft is expected to provide some of the highest-resolution Europa images ever taken..." Here's your periodic reminder that this mission almost flew all the way to Jupiter *without a camera slated to be onboard.*

A test render where high frequency information from a shape-from-shading (SFS) DEM was merged with the Gaskell shape model of Mimas. For comparison: The Cassini SFS source image and a render of the Gaskell Mimas shape model. Looks promising - this is very preliminary though.

What happened to all of Mars's water? One idea is that its rivers, lakes, and even oceans seeped underground long ago. Yeah, except didn't find any ice down to a depth of 300 meters below the surface. What does this mean for a Wet Mars?

I am admittedly, while disappointed, 100% unsurprised about today's launch scrub for Artemis/SLS. This vehicle configuration has never flown and the components will not be reused once it does. All systems and constraints must be perfect for go status. As they should.

PROTON FLARE: the big M flares earlier apparently generated a proton event here at Earth. The flares can accelerate charged particles to near relativistic speeds which bombard Earth. Astronauts are in particular danger from such events especially on their way to the Moon or Mars.
