This is a good question to ponder. Look at things you can count and count how many things you can count or classify. Just play with that kind of thinking for a while. After a time it'll dawn on you.

Like maybe our brains evolved set theory representations at some level implicitly in the structure and it allows us to apprehend mathematical structures as well with work.
