How to twitter better:
Make threads of thematically linked tweets
Any time yr going to post, search yr past tweets for a thread the new tweet might belong in.
If u find one, add new tweet as a reply to that thread.
(tx @visakanv and @QiaochuYuan, i saw you doing this first)

This helps readers find more of your material that they're interested in, and helps you uncover/create connections in your thinking.

To do this, you'll be searching your own tweets often. You can use something like Alfred or Keyboard Maestro (mac) to do that search quickly. Here's my Alfred workflow:pic.twitter.com/GuKDS4luX4

your old tweets are resurfaced anytime someone views the thread. not so ephemeral any more. suddenly posting potentially 'evergreen' stuff on twitter makes sense. old posts keep doing their work.

some attitudes shifted when my posts no longer effectively vanish a few hours after having hit 'Tweet'. i take more care, filter and digest more. I'm more intentional about what i'm doing here. this all seems like an unambiguously good development.

I was reminded of this passage in The Prologue of Thus Spake Zarathustra. https://www.nku.edu/~weirk/panda/prologue.html … In this moment it points at Ever Self-Transcending Awareness. Which is why I'm still going to shitpost.
