This is one reason why ethnography-style interviews can be so much more illuminating, or at least a helpful supplement. They had me participate in one of those during the actual study, but there's no room for explanation in this case. An "add footnote" option would go a long way.

Too much nuance is lost through sheer quantification. Qualitative data analysis, as facilitated by ethnographic interviewing, is a systematic, content-driven, thematic approach capable of yielding a phenomenological taxonomy for any range of experiences.

Call me naive but towards the end of having a scene working towards both direct experience and measurement, I see the only material obstacles being effort and coordination.
