Research-wise (i.e. technology/methodology limitations), how far are we from measuring von Neumann entropy integrated (approximately ofc) over a neuron? I wonder when testing this hypothesis could become viable, if ever. Obviously huge resource costshttps://twitter.com/mlegls/status/1255910487767707649?s=20 …

Or perhaps, are there indirect ways to *compare* quantum entropy? How does it relate to properties of macroscopic systems? I wonder if the comparison between sleeping & waking brain can't already be done, kind of. Looking for literature, not your shitty takes (unless physicist)

I wonder if it's not even just a "quantum" thing. By similar intuitions to this, I could relate awareness not just to waveforms, but to statistical ensembles in general. But that's super far-off & vague speculation that most likely leads nowhere.https://twitter.com/_StevenFan/status/1207547203553644545?s=20 …
yes added,
Steven Fan @_StevenFanThe waveform has a holistic representation of the particle-environment system. There's subject-object(ish*) relation (*the system is NOT divisible) with the particle-wave containing the whole information about the system, but still being a particle distinct from surroundings.Show this thread2 replies 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -

my own vague speculation is that ensembles could support complex waveforms. CNS all have inputs into conscious awareness from many sub-consciousnesses. everyday experience of consciousness isn't a property that is spread over the whole brain

awareness isn't in the cortex but the cortex has input into ithttps://twitter.com/_StevenFan/status/1255173383819374593 …

the nimita jhanas 1-4 also demonstrate this: sensory consciousness is supressed jhanas 5-8 continue to strip away additional minds away from awareness 9 being equivalent to unconscious sleep spitballing in this thread,

Steven Fan @_StevenFanReplying to @NoaidiX @Cantide1not having experienced formless spheres I can only speculate on the quality of awareness: I'm speculating a cholergenic area in the pontine tegmentum (if I remember correctly), related to REM sleep and when lesioned produces unconsciousness, might be related to arupa jhanas.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
engineering intuition -> hypothesis there's a small region responsible for everyday conscious awareness.

it takes a compiled hierarchy of inputs it would be at the nexus of inputs and cerebellum-outputs

it produces highly integrated information with structure and temporal function reflecting this *high synchronization* some from of high connectivity e.g. fully connected graph, 2d lattice + extra dimensions of connectivity
