Hello weird meditation twitter- wondering if you can point me in the direction of info regarding 'internal illumination' (as in, light generated internally- experienced as coming from behind the eyes, not from outside them, filtering thru the eyelids- mine tend to flicker)

seeking the light is the surest way to lose it my interpretation is seeking the light, evokes an I-It relationship which cognitive. either cognitive activation is somehow inhibitory or stabilizing the light requires single-pointed/unsplit direction of mental resources

yeah ive only ever bumped into it. def not seeking it, just curious about what resources are available regarding it, as its been happening more and more lately (i recently began a jhana pracise among other things) this paper is so rad man thx

Very cool paper! Surprised they didn't cite Bressloff & Cowan for the mechanisms of geometric visual hallucinations -- an intro / summary here:https://www.quantamagazine.org/a-math-theory-for-why-people-hallucinate-20180730/ …

I’ve always wondered that.
