My first #vanlife project:
A taut tarp to protect the van from rain and for a longer term workspace.
I'm learning that vanlife isn't just about the van. It's a way of life to find self sufficiency. A modern day Thoreau would probably be living in a van.

And here is the result. I learned that some projects require more than 1 person which makes me think about the nature of community and that I need to find other people who want to collaborate with me (after the virus passes). I also learned how to tie knots on YouTube!pic.twitter.com/QB8MqVJQIF

After coming up with the idea about a year ago, I have found that I can successfully run my podcast while practicing
#vanlife. I just published my interview with@mattmireles. You can find that here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/7lhnCN3SeCSpBPx3WrTmeq?si=Y62oclMcQNaM_IKrNCjtjg … The sneakiest part if how I figured out internet.1 reply 3 retweets 5 likesShow this thread -

Internet is proving to be a huge challenge: https://twitter.com/StewartalsopIII/status/1245102089799217153?s=20 … I was expecting this. Just came up with plan B. Ask a bunch of hippies if I can park in front of their driveway, use their internet, and give them some cash. I don't think it will be a problem.

I'm trying to get internet installed on a property and I'm finding that COVID19 has done a number on internet service providers. They had all their agents in call centers which are now empty. It's impossible to talk to a human.Show this thread1 reply 1 retweet 2 likesShow this thread -
Last few days have been very hard and there have been a couple times where I have thought about quitting. I love the freedom too much though. The most challenging aspect has been internet. I'm learning that mobile internet outside of big towns is not good enough for video calls.

I've also been psychologically validated of my quick action after finding out my former roommates very likely have come down with the Rona. I'm very glad that I have not spent time with them in 14 days and made the move to
#vanlife in that time.1 reply 2 retweets 6 likesShow this thread -
I think I have found a solution for internet which is essential if I continue to do podcasts and breathwork. It requires me to leave the beautiful land I found, pictured below. I found another property in a more residential area and am installing internet and parking there.pic.twitter.com/lxzUAhClRi

The first thing I'm going to do when I get my new spot and the internet that will come with it: Consult with Jessie who works with
@theprepared on a video call to show me how to put up a tarp over my van in preparation for the snowstorm heading our way this weekend.1 reply 1 retweet 3 likesShow this thread -

The
@ATT technician installed the router in my van. When I asked him to do it he gave me one of the funniest looks I've ever gotten. I haven't seen any mobile and virtual coworking talked about in any cyberpunk novels yet. Have you? There was a hint of it in snow crash.pic.twitter.com/7rLBqTUeLp2 replies 2 retweets 3 likesShow this thread
A caravan could get a Starlink uplink and cruise around networked together and with the world.

Replying to @_StevenFan @ATT
Holy shit. Mind blown. You want to join? We can keep our vans six feet away of course.
