Twitter isn't close to the action in terms of coordinating open source engineering efforts, most of it is in slack groups.

I'm probably talking about a different thing than
@vgr then. This comment is more about where coordination in my sphere is happening. I get a feeling more coordination is happen off twitter than on it.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
There's a 12,000 person slack and an 11,000 person facebook group around open source engineering for Covid-19. I see almost none of it on twitter.

I suspect a lot of them originally met on twitter and then went off to slack to coordinate

I feel there is an earnest, looking-to-help type that isn't cruising twitter. Also twitter can be so fragmented and search is meh. The 11k group is a top-5 result searching for covid in facebook groups.

In the facebook group: Networking, exchange information, project ideas, showing off things people are making, bemoaning lack of coordination
. Probably it's best suited for feeding the slack groups tbh. Facebook groups are
for threading.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
The slack has individual channels with a variety of projects. I really don't know the depth of all of them, but they seem to be self organizing and increasing singal.

There are probably 100 channels for projects, ranging from PPE, to equipment hospitals are anticipated to use, as well as non-profit, finance, and admin channels.
