Mask project update: Lots of progress today. We've nailed down the acceptable filter material (1mm sheets of a meltblown thermoplastic called polypropylene, if you were wondering). We're working on a low-cost/easy-to-produce design, much to be improved vs 3M N95 models.https://twitter.com/mattparlmer/status/1239049398778310658 …

Sure. It's in the name, N means "not oil filtering" and 95 means "95% filtration efficiency"

What is the filtration rating of the polypropylene?

We’re finding through research that for most N95 masks the primary filter material is 1mm melt blown polypropylene (pictured) with a cotton/polyester backing. This is all sandwiched between layers of spun bound polypropylene. NIOSH standards are 95%+ particulate filtration.

I haven't seen this talked about but is 95% particulate filtration really enough?
