When I started tweeting, the best strategy to grow an account was “retweet fishing”. Since the algorithmic feed, it’s now “like whoring”. I think the former has better incentives to take risks and be interesting.

Sometimes i think likes are on the same value scale as rts. Rts are just "i want this on my profile because this is what I wanna signal to visitors". And is this phrased and presented nicely as well?

personally sometimes I like something enough to retweet it but don’t, because it’s controversial/negative, not matching the vibe of humor, I’ve done a lot of the same recently, etc.; I’ll ‘like’ in that case, maybe reply. each person uses platform diff. though, hard to categorize
