Libertarians and progressives should love ranked-choice voting. They can run their own candidates without worrying about handing the election to the "greater evil". (I'm trying to earn the label "Ranked Choice Voting Bro". How am I doing?)

Though strategic voting causes a good chunk of the problems. It's hard to model strategic voting, but I'd love to see that covered, too. I agree that STAR is likely superior in both conditions, but IRV at least makes 3rd parties viable w/o the straightforward spoiler effect.

The thing about score voting is that it can transform into pretty much any of the other systems. The level of coordination needed to turn a score vote into a different kind is high, though. Only so many people are going to be persuaded to give a 5 to one, and 0 to the rest, e.g.
