One of the biggest things entrepreneurship has taught me is how to categorize criticism. In that work in particular, criticism that comes from insecurity, jealousy, hostility is everywhere. I've gotten very good at spotting that kind and ignoring it without a trace of hesitation.

One thing that helps is knowing in 95% of cases, the people don't mean it in a hostile way. They may not even be aware the criticism says more about them than me. We all have deep-seated insecurities and stories we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better about our life.

Had an experience of being fused to a co workers sense of paranoia in directing work. When I dropped this it was incredibly freeing. Their insecurity, does not have to be mine.
