I have wondered about jhana and its relationship with opioid systems, I’d be interested to hear of any research on that.

Yes...and I have a hunch/Wild Ass Guess that different meditational approaches (ie one that explicitly works through the jnanas, vs. with an approach where the jnanas perhaps arise spontaneously as practice deepens) would influence the SEEKING and opioid systems differently...

Understanding emotional systems as a base level for and integrated into higher processes has help orient me to what's going on in Mind.
Right now I'm interested in how Jhana activates SEEKING and opioid systems and suppresses sensory information.
