I can report that there are states of attention that are entirely absorbed or suffused in something, without the directedness associated with 'pointing'

i would describe that non-directed experience as awareness (of something) it seems to me the absorbed states are closer-to-awareness-level faculties that exist through the whole field and having the absorption experience is only possible by abandoning attention
