I think the right way to think about panpsychism is: awareness exists; there's no explanation of how it comes about except via identifying (neuro)correlations w/ instances of its manifestations. What might be going on? Not much different than early deductions about atoms.

I see what you’re doing there, but that seems to me to be too impoverished to count as an experience. I think so much in this area ends up turning on intuitions about word meaning. And my thinking was certainly polluted by early engagements with William James...

Specifically his claims about the relationship between *mind* and the ability to change means while holding ends fixed. I get that this occurs in all *living things*. But I struggle to get how it happens in wave dynamics. That’s probably my own limitation!
