I don’t know who’s needs to hear this, but to exit vim all you need to do is press esc then :q then enter.

So the first time i 'quit' vim I used ^z This didn't really quit vim but suspended it. But I know better now, so I use ^z ps -aux | grep vim | awk '{ print $2}' | xargs kill -9
