Why can't we just start cities from scratch without the costly choices we've come to expect with American development? Here's what my ideal choices would be:

Walkable and mass transit oriented instead of car centric. Multi story and dense living as a default, but with ample green and public space so good views and nature is available for everyone.

Making it possible to start smaller businesses that require dedicated space, but may not be currently viable in American sized retail and commerical space.
